A New Year tradition in Ukraine combines a bit of what we call Trick or Treat and Christmas Caroling. Children ring the doorbell and when you answer they ask if they can sing you a song or tell you a funny story. If you say yes, a piece of candy or money will be expected!

To my DELIGHT 2 young men who came tonight spoke English. Both spoke excellent English! What a joy for me to talk with them about their families in America. Then to be entertained by funny songs! (OK, our Christmas was Jan. 7 - but we're still enjoying it here!)

I'll miss this tradition! Yep, I'll miss it for sure.
