Just another traffic situation

We had a pretty calm Saturday - considering we were out and about most of the day.  But, when we headed home we found ourselves in another traffic situation.  We can't turn left onto our neighborhood street so we have to make a right turn and then make a U-turn before we come up to a stop light that allows us to be on our neighborhood street that allows us to turn into our driveway.  To avoid the normal traffic situation I just described, we came up a couple of blocks away.  And there in front of us was a tram - not moving at all!  Because of the normal traffic, we had cars coming from the left that were making the U-turn (are you following me?).  Anyway the point is there was no where to go.  Not for the 2 lanes of traffic going straight or the 2 lanes of traffic making the u-turn.  So, where did we go?  Onto the sidewalk, of course.  Traffic came from the left of the tram, the right of the tram, the left straight lane and the right straight lane.  All 4 lanes merging onto one sidewalk.  Amazing as that is, everybody pretty much takes their turn.  It's really something to see.  Old cars, new cars (even some Mercedes and Lexus) driving up onto the sidewalk, down around the tram, avoiding the trees, then back through the trees onto the street.  Some cars had a difficult time getting back on the street because of the high curb and the mud.  But, everyone made it.

Americans are amazed and amused by the strange traffic situations we have here.  And, when it involves rush hour, everyone gets irritated.  But, we deal with it.

We all create inner mechanisms that allow us to function in situations that are uncomfortable to us.  I've found the way to ride with Tim is to look the other way when he is entering traffic from a ramp or side street.  I can't help him and it certainly doesn't help me to watch!

Do you think we do the same thing with sin?  Do we get comfortable with the sin in our life and just "go around it"?  Do we expect it to trip up our day?  Do we subconsciously allow it to sit in our way, while we give extra effort to go up to curb to get around it?  Do we just look the other way?

Well, I can't change the traffic situation in Kiev, but I can certainly refuse to allow the sin in my life to stall my walk with Christ!
